‘Finding Dory’ is set to hit theaters in less than one month, and the closer we get, the harder the wait becomes. But lucky for us, we have a new trailer to hold us over until June 17th arrives!
Ellen Degeneres secretly posted it on her channel early Tuesday morning, and it’s finally making it’s rounds on the internet, and the six year old in all of us is screaming.
The storyline still stars our three favorite fish – Dory, Nemo, and Marlin. But this time, Dory is the one who needs rescuing. After getting captured by a marine life institute while on the search for her long lost parents, Marlin and Nemo need to step up to help her escape and find her family.
While the movie is still fun, cute, and kid friendly, with Dory’s forgetfulness and Marlin’s sarcasm, it also tackles some more intense topics. Through the eyes of the fish and animals kept inside the marine life institute, we’re introduced to the dangers of zoos and aquariums. From small enclosures, to over crowding, to unsafe conditions for the inhabitants of the tiny tanks, the film teaches just how harmful and inhumane these places are for wildlife.
And one again, the movie comes along with the same main themes that the original one taught us – The value of friendship, and the importance of never giving up.
‘Finding’ Dory hits theaters on June 17th, and we know that might seem like it’s a little too far away to handle, but like Dory says, “Just keep swimming!” It’ll be here before you know it.
